CNES missions
CNES has proposed to fly two microsatellite missions per year on the ARIANE-5 ASAP. The following potential missions have been identified, to be cost capped at FF50m (1998, US$8.3m) including launch and operations.
DEMETER - to detect warning seismic tremors or volcanic activity.
ORAGES research into climatic phenomena within the tropical zone.
COALA is to measure chemical components of the atmosphere and their evolution (for example holes in the ozone layer)
DORIS will contribute to the precise positioning of beacons stationed on Earth, to follow the evolution of the average level of the oceans and the changes in distance from the Earth's crust.
PICARD to study the Sun and the influence of its increase in activity on the warming of the Earth's atmosphere
RHEA will study the evolution of vegetation throughout the year.
SAPHIR research into climatic phenomena within the tropical zone.
mu-SCOPE will focus on the verification of the principle of equivalence between mass weight and inert mass, on which the theory of relativity rests
