ASTRO-C (Ginga), 1987-026A-F
The 420kg Ginga (Milky Way in Japanese) satellite was launched on the 5th February 1987 on a Mu3S launcher from Kagoshima into a 517x708km orbit inclined at 31.1 degrees. The spacecraft was employed in the study of X-rays and gamma rays. It decayed on the 1st November 1991.
Cosmos 1827-1832, 1987-026A-F
A multiple launch of an Tsyklon from Plesetsk Cosmodrome on the the 13th March 1987 put six spacecraft into a 1415km orbit inclined at 82.6 degrees, The spacecraft form part of the military constellation for the Russian Federation Ministry of Defense (MO RF). The spacecraft use the STRELA-3 bus, weigh 231kg each and are designed for a five year lifetime by NPO Applied Mechanics (NPO Prikladnoi Mekhaniki of Krasnoyarsk, Russia). The spacecraft will provide military services of data transfer and photo reconnoissance in the Locsyst communications system.
SRS1 (Rohini),
Launch failure on the 24th March1987 of the SLV rocket from Sriharikota, Bengal Bay. The spacecraft weighed 150kg.
