Launching
on the START launch vehicle
The
Start Launch vehicle launches from the eastern Russian launch site of Svobodny. It is a
converted RS-12M "Topol" or SS25 "Sickle" solid fuelled ICBM, which is
operated by NTTs KOMPLEKS. The picture shows the START launcher as used in the Earthwatch minisatellite campaign.
START (and Cosmos) is being marketed by The United Start Corporation, jointly owned by
Assured Space Access in the US, and ZAO Puskovie Uslugi of Moscow. PU in turn is jointly
owned by STC Complex-MIFT and the Russian Space Agency.
