Launching on Scout

The SCOUT launcher provides a launch capacity of 80 to 270kg into LEO, and so has carried small satellites exclusively. The first launch was on the 1st July 1960, and the last Scout was used in May 1994 to carry the MSTI-2 satellite.

The launcher has a remarkable launch recod of 88% overall, but 96% following development in December 1963. It has placed 92 satellites succesfully into orbit, from the VAFB, the San Marco Platform, Cape Canaveral and Wallops.

Expected future launches

As all SCOUT's have been expended, the only future launches possible will be on the Italian proposed SCOUT-II.
