LEO One USA Corp is an affiliate of the dbX corporation, a telecommunications investment and management company. The LEO One system comprises a 48 satellite constellation in 8 orbital planes inclined at 50 degrees and at an altitude of 950km, for Store and Forward messaging, paging and data collection. .The system is designed for operation above 15 degrees elevation, and offers coverage between 65 degrees lattitude North and South. LEO One received their licence in February 1998 after applying in the second round. The satellites will measure 0.89x0.51x0.51m, and weigh 125kg. They will be gravity gradient stabilised, carrying four panels generating 210W of power (End Of Life). The satellites are designed for 5 to 7 years of lifetime. Tracking groundstations will measure Doppler shift for orbit determination. The gateway uplink and downlink rate is 50kbps, and the subscriber downlink and uplink rates are 24kbps and 2.4-9.6kbps respectively. The gateway operates in the 148-150.5MHz and 400.15-401MHz bands, and the subscriber in the 148-150.5MHz and 137-138MHz bands. Four transmitters are carried, and 15 receivers. The subscriber terminals are handheld, desktop or vehicle mounted, and operate with a maximum uplink power of 7W More... [LEO One]. |
